I can literally have the camera pointed over a guest’s shoulder and grab a shot without them even noticing. It makes DSLRs sound like a gun and even the noise from the Fuji X-Pro2 can be very distracting (I don’t use the electronic shutter on the X-Pro2 due to banding).įor my discreet style of photography, this is a huge advantage. The leaf shutter is a dream and is virtually silent. To counter this fact I’m sure to capture all the key moments with two cameras, and only use 16GB / 32gb memory cards – reducing the risk in the event of card failure. This is not ideal for a wedding photographer – we’ve heard lots of horror stories of memory card failures, and are used to the security of dual slots. However the Leica Q only has one SD memory card slot. Many mirrorless cameras are following the DSLRs and are now equipped with two SD slots. I can see aesthetically why Leica has opted out of this feature, but it’s really useful for both street and wedding photography. Some customisation of function buttons is available, but generally set up is quick, painless and focused on simplicity.Ī tilting screen would have been nice, and it’s a shame the Leica Q does not have one.

However part of me misses the extra dials of the Fuji system, especially the dedicated ISO and viewfinder switcher buttons that enable quick adjustments to be made. On other cameras, too many buttons and functions can take away from the photography experience. If user need to remove manually added camera, just click the ‘ -’ button.

Step 3: Select the manual added camera in the dropdown menu. Step 2: Input camera IP, in this example is 192.168.1.81, press ok. In a very Leica-esque design, aperture and shutter speed are quick and simple to change and ISO has its own button on the back of the camera. Step 1: press the ‘+’ button beside camera dropdown menu. Double-click the icon and Acquire will open in the design as shown overleaf. For easier access to Acquire, drag the icon to the Dock on the Desktop, or create an alias and place the alias on the Desktop. The pictures of the camera taken for this Leica Q review show how it’s still in excellent condition despite my rough handling at times. Starting Acquire Leica Acquire can be started from the Leica Acquire icon in the application folder. Intel Pentium 4 or DuoCore, 2GHz, 2 GB RAM, 24-bit graphics, 1248 × 1024, DVD driveġ920 × 1080 resolution, HDMI connection, DVI connection possible with HDMI/DVI adapter cable (not provided) Note that some displays require that you switch the camera live HD resolution to 1280 × 720 Px.A testament to the build quality of this little camera that it continued to work perfectly – with no visible marks! 18 months later and it has had its fair share of knocks and scrapes, but it remains as solid as a rock.

This camera has been replaced with the Leica ICC50 W which has WiFi output features added. It can also output USB to a computer to use with the free Leica LAS EZ software which allows for image capture, video capture, annotations, measurements, etc. It can output via HDMI cable to a monitor / projector and you can capture images / videos to a removable SD card. Due to its mounting position the camera produces higher quality images with a faster frame rate than traditional c-mount cameras since the image is closer to the camera sensor.

This camera is also compatible with several Olympus models, such as the BX series microscopes. It gets mounted between the head and body of the microscope so it does not require a trinocular head or c-mount adapter. The Leica ICC50 HD microscope camera can turn any Leica DM series microscope into a digital microscope.
